Luc Herrmann Group
Luc Herrmann is a Montreal based guitarist and a strong voice in the next generation of great jazz musicians the city has developed a reputation for. Having heavily studied the jazz guitar tradition, all the while appreciating current composers and improvisers, Luc’s sound is a natural blend of the old and the new. And as a recent McGill graduate, he has had the opportunity to study and perform with some of the best jazz musicians Canada has to offer.
His personal project the Luc Herrmann Group is a contemporary jazz quartet for which Luc writes all the music and features Jules Payette on alto saxophone, Louis-Vincent Hamel on drums and Levi Dover on bass. Each member contributes greatly to the ensemble's unique sound as they vehemently perform the young guitarist's ethereally inspired music.
The Quartet released their debut album entitled ''Luc Herrmann Group'' on October 10th 2017 at Resonance Café, one of Montreal's choice venues to hear emerging and creative jazz. A few days after it’s release the quartet performed in front of a sold out room at the 2017 Merrickville Jazz Festival in Merrickville, Ontario.
The album also quickly became a favorite among important local radio shows which garnered an interview with Radio Canada’s Stanley Péan on ''Quand le jazz est là'', as well as playing regularly on Coco Jazz (CKVL 100,1 FM) and Jazz Bazar (CKIA 88.3)
